Hello! I am Markie the blogger behind Barefoot In Grace! I am a stay at home mama to three beautiful girls. I live nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, it's my heaven on earth. The older I get the more I love the simplicity of life in these mountains that make me feel so safe. I have lived in the same house for most of my life. It has been an amazing experience to raise my daughters in the house where I was raised. This year I struggled with turning thirty but I know that with Gods Blessings my thirties will be so much better than my twenties! I am so blessed to have some of the most amazing family and friends in my life. I truly believe that God has placed every single one of them in my life for a reason.
I have always had an amazing faith in God but it wasn't until around six years ago I started to crave something more. I wanted to get to know Jesus, have a personal relationship with him more than just knowing about him. I started to change things slowly, at first I started to read my bible, then I slowly switched to listening to Christian music, watching pastors on YouTube, and praying more. We started going to church last Mothers Day and I was baptized shortly after. I have seen some of the most beautiful blessings happen right in front of me, big and small. I have been blessed to walk with some of the most amazing people during their journeys and watch them grow and see the healing power of Jesus.
My blog is centered around living a Grace-filled life, I will be posting about my walk with Jesus and my journey navigating a grace-filled life. I love living life barefoot and in Gods grace! I am so far from perfect, but my God is forgiving! I believe that God is leading me on this journey to share my stories with others in hopes that it gives someone else hope! This is my personal journey to grace, my journey in motherhood, depression and so much more! I will post helpful tips and tricks, holiday ideas (Christmas is my favorite), tons of scripture and faith.
My blog was born one Sunday when my youngest daughter that named Grace was running around after church barefoot with her shoes in her hands standing in Gods Grace. Being barefoot to me means stripped down, flaws exposed, showing with transparency your true self in front of Jesus. The word "In" means expressing movement with the result that someone or something becomes enclosed or surrounded by something else. The definition of Grace means "the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings". The name of my blog is extremely close to my heart because I am standing in front of Jesus surrounded by his love, his grace & mercy. I am truly Barefoot In Grace. This is my journey to Grace. I may not be perfect but everything is possible through Christ!
